5 ways to practice a positive mindset in your business (and my favorite resources).

Five ways to practice a positive mindset in business
What you think you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create. Quote by Buddha

Mindset is everything. It impacts every decision we make and how we show up. Having a good mindset is vital to running a successful business. A positive attitude helps in building strong relationships with clients, partners, and employees.

But as we all know, this isn’t always easy. Running a business can be an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you're celebrating a huge win, the next you're dealing with a crisis. Not to mention, fear of failure, self-doubt and imposter syndrome which can often sneak in when you least expect them.

Having the right tools can make all the difference. Here are five things that will help to increase self-love, self-compassion and confidence.

01. Feed your mind with positivity.

Managing your mindset starts with consuming content that positively fuels your mind.

From the books you read, to the podcasts you listen to on a daily basis.

Here are a few of my favorite resources for creating a positive mindset in business.

Books

The Gifts of Imperfection – Brené Brown (or any book by Brené Brown)

Soundtracks – Jon Acuff

All it Takes is a Goal – Jon Acuff

You are a Badass – Jen Sincero

You are a Badass at Making Money – Jen Sincero

Mindset – Carol Dweck

Self-Compassion – Kristin Neff

Book Yourself Solid – Michael Port

Atomic Habits – James Clear

We Should All Be Millionaires – Rachel Rodgers

02. Find a Supportive Community

Having a supportive community ensures that you will always have someone there to listen and provide support when you need it and lift your spirits on those hard days. I have found a group that has done just that for me.

The Create Your Purpose Collective has been a great source of inspiration, motivation and education for me in my business. I have been able to meet some incredible women, get great business insights and have a sounding board when I need advice.

Mentors. Find someone you admire and see if they mentor you. They can often give great advice, insight and help lead you in the right direction.

Surround yourself with positive and successful business people. Read inspiring biographies, attend industry events, or join a mastermind group. Learning from the experiences and mindsets of others can provide valuable insights and keep you motivated.

03. Set Goals and Prioritize

Having clearly defined goals will help you to stay on track. Take those goals and break them down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Carve out time to work on your goals everyday. Prioritize what is most important.

04. Daily Practice

Incorporating mindset practices into your daily routine is the best way to make it a habit. Here’s a few of my favorite mindset practices:

Gratitude Journaling.

Practicing gratitude can increase your mental and physical health, improve your relationships and add to more satisfaction in your life and career.

Gratitude combats negativity and keeps you focused on the abundance you’ve already created.

Here’s a few of my favorite gratitude journals.

Happy the Journal – Fearne Cotton

52 Lists for Happiness – Moorea Seal

The Gratitude Journal for Women  – Katie Vernon

Brave, Kind & Grateful – Jessica Hische

Brain Dump

When I am feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, I set a timer for 5-10 minutes. I write down everything on my mind. After I am finished I am usually surprised by how many things on the list are not that important. I am able to look over the list and prioritize what really matters.

It always helps me to feel lighter, more at ease and less stressed.

Pomodoro Timer

Do you have a hard time staying focused? I know I do. I like to use the pomodoro technique. It involves setting a timer for 25 minutes to focus on one task and then taking a five minute break.

I am always surprised at how efficient I can be when I know I only have 25 minutes to complete a task. It also helps to remove any distractions. You can also put your phone in the other room and silence your email.

05. Develop a growth mindset

Mistakes will happen.

Use them as an opportunity for growth and learning. Reframe your challenges as stepping stones. Ask yourself, “What can I take away from this experience to improve next time?” This growth mindset keeps you focused on progress and fosters resilience.

Celebrate Small Wins:

The road to success is paved with small victories. Recognizing and celebrating these milestones keeps you motivated and energized. Take a moment to acknowledge your accomplishments, no matter how seemingly small.

Mindset is a practice. The more you do it, the better you will become.

Practicing these five things have helped me to become more mindful in my business (and life). I hope they will help you too.
